Weeklies bid to raise cash for kids' cancer care

The Harrow Times and Hillingdon Times have launched a bid to raise £20,000 in aid of children's cancer care charity CLIC Sargent.

Its Caring for Kids appeal aims to raise the cash to fund the continued work of specialist orthopaedic and oncology nurse Chris Henry, who works at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

The CLIC Sargent nurse provides support for children and families as they cope with daily pressures and difficulties of both suffering and recovering from cancer.

In recent weeks the papers have been reporting on the bravery of 12-year-old Meg King, who is battling with bone cancer, and Martin Sears, who is in remission.
