A new campaign to tackle the litter problems blighting Bradford has been launched by the Telegraph & Argus.

The paper wants to encourage readers to take more pride in the district to put an end to illegal fly-tipping and rubbish-strewn streets.

To kick-start the Bin It for Bradford campaign the paper published a special eight-page supplement detailing the scale of the problem and what readers could do to help.

In the next few weeks it will also be publishing a series of stories about recycling, what else can be done to solve the problem and how readers are getting involved as the campaign gets under way.

Editor Perry Austin-Clarke said: "Time and time again in survey after survey our readers make it clear that the untidy state of Bradford is one of their biggest concerns and one of the issues that does most to affect people's image of the city.

"There are many things Bradford has to be proud of - and we want the appearance of the district to be one of them. We can't let litter let us down.

"Bin It for Bradford is a campaign which every single one of our readers can take part in and we hope people get behind us tackle the problem of rubbish on our streets."
