Gazette's £120,000 target is in sight

The Somerset County Gazette is urging its readers to get behind a final fundraising push to help it reach the £120,000 target of its Stop It Before It Starts campaign.

The newspaper has been helping to raise money for a scheme which will put a mobile classroom on the road to teach primary school children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

So far £108,000 has been raised, and the County Gazette is now asking its readers to help raise the final £12,000 needed as the project gets ready for launch.

Once up-and-running, the scheme will help thousands of youngsters at schools in an area covering Taunton, Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Minehead and Bridgwater.

The classroom will be specially equipped and travel around primary schools providing a specialist teaching and workshop programme.
