Pioneer is "fed up"

A North Wales weekly newspaper has experienced a huge response to aFed Up With Fireworks Campaign.

The North Wales Pioneer at Colwyn Bay launched the campaign afterreporting how a dog had been scared to death by fireworks.

"We campaigned for a ban on the sale of fireworks, apart from thosesold to licence holders at organised displays," said editor in chief GrahamBreeze.

"The response was amazing with over 600 readers completing couponswhich will be forwarded to the Welsh Assembly and the Department of Trade.We are lucky to get 50 replies normally."

The campaign was backed by the local council's safety panel andhelped fill the letters pages for weeks.
