Bumper to bumper with the Journal

A four-week investigation is being launched by the North Devon Journal to get to the root of traffic problems in its circulation area.

Traffic On Trial will take a detailed look at the traffic problems facing the local community.

Symptoms and causes surrounding blackspots and jam-points will be examined as well as specific pressure points and issues about what can be done to improve matters.

Locals are frustrated because Barnstaple's Western Bypass scheme is still years from completion so the paper has latched on to the strong public feeling to run its latest debate.

At the end of the Traffic On Trial series the paper will hand over its dossier on traffic issues - complete with the views of the readers - to the authorities in charge of the roads and challenge them to answer the issues.
