Echo publishes supplement to stop the Silent Killer

The Northern Echo has published a special campaign supplement aimed at forcing the Government to prevent further tragedies from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The supplement is the latest step in the paper's Silent Killer campaign, and is produced in partnership with British Gas and Energywatch.

It will be sent to every MP in the country along with thousands of university students in the North East and contains advice on how to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning and details of local cases.

The paper launched its campaign in 1999, when it took the families of local victims of carbon monoxide poisoning to Downing Street to meet Health and Safety Minister Lord Whitty, who promised to press for new legislation to help cut the death toll.

The Echo also has a mini website dedicated to the campaign, which can be found here.
