Lock them Out - plea

The high toll of house burglaries in part of the South West has prompted the Weston & Worle News to start up a campaign to put burglars out of business.

The paper is working with the police, who told reporters that 55 homes in Worle had been broken into in four weeks - and 40 of those homes had unlocked doors and windows.

Thieves had even been reaching through letterboxes and cat flaps, as well as using keys which had been left in locks on the inside.

To highlight the problem the Weston & Worle News is launching a poster campaign that will see posters going up around the town reminding people to check that their homes and cars are secure.

Police will be backing the Lock them Out campaign by putting on extra patrols in both uniform and plain clothes to try to catch the culprits.
