Petition calls for pavement repairs

More than a thousand people have signed a petition calling for repairs to pavements following a Weston and Worle News campaign.

Following the campaign to fill in potholes in the area, North Somerset councillors have taken up the call for action and say there has been an increase in the number of injuries reported to then, and the amount of compensation paid.

North Somerset and Weston town councillor Ken Lacey presented a 1,000 signature petition to officials at a council meeting, along with 30 letters of complaint and a hit list of around 60 roads where the pavements need work.

Another councillor, Colin Golland, warned in August last year about much of the work that is needed on footpaths, and he says that little has changed since.

He said: "Things are similar to how they were, and the footpaths are still dangerous.

"This is something North Somerset Council needs to pay more attention to."
