Newspaper's bid to beat the credit crunch

The Bolton News has launched a bid to save its readers money with an ambitious month-long campaign.

Beat the Crunch was brought it this week with a series of money-off coupons, tips and a month-long token collect competition.

The newspaper and its website have also linked up with celebrity chef Paul Heathcote and money saving expert Martin Lewis to cut pounds off the bills of Bolton residents.

Martin has agreed to write a weekly column packed with money-saving tips and Paul has devised four recipes which he cooked in front of a film crew for the newspaper's website.

Beat The Crunch will run until 29 November with a different money off coupon or free offer published every day, along with articles about readers' attempts to save cash during the economic downturn, matched with web content to boost the campaign.

James Higgins, assistant editor at The Bolton News, said: "Our Beat the Crunch campaign is the perfect way to reach out to our readers at a time when many people are struggling to cope with the economic downturn.

"We have worked hard to put together a package of offers and articles that we believe will be of benefit to our readers."
