A Norwich-based cancer appeal has reached its £250,000 target in just 12 months.
The Big C 20th Anniversary Appeal reached the mark, thanks to the generosity of Evening News readers during a year of fund-raising and events.
Editor David Bourn said: "When this newspaper set itself a target of raising £250,000 in just 12 months, many people thought it was unachievable.
"They reckoned without the generosity, energy and commitment of the paper's loyal army of readers who have made sure we reach our fantastic target.
"The people of Norwich should be rightly proud of this achievement."
Mary White, general manager of Big C, said: "We've been absolutely overwhelmed with the generosity of the Evening News readers throughout the appeal and even though we are reaching the end of the year we are still getting thousands of pounds in from people who have raised money for us."
