Save Rydale plan wins support

A campaign to save a flood-stricken village from suffering in future has won the support of more than 1,200 people.

The York Evening Press campaign to Save Ryedale from Flooding has gathered more than 1,263 signatures of support from residents.

They want the Environment Agency to step up its promise to build flood defences in Ryedale.

Locals have been flooded out three times in less than two years which reinforced the campaign - and the residents came out in force to demand action.

The Save Ryedale from Flooding petition forms were distributed to shops and pubs across the district and cut-out forms were printed in the Evening Press.

Petition forms are set to be presented to the Environment Agency early next year.
