Hospice fund nets £365 a day

An appeal to raise money for a new day care centre for the terminally ill in Lincolnshire has got off to a fantastic start.

Generous readers have donated money to the Lincolnshire Echo campaign at a rate of £365 a day.

The newspaper has now raised £16,000 towards its £250,000 target in only six weeks.

The appeal was started to help fund the new day centre on Bunkers Hill which opens next year.

The centre will provide patients with more space and greater privacy than they have at the existing facility on Nettleham Road.

The Echo has pledged to publicise every event taking place to raise money for the appeal.

Marie Pattinson, fundraising office manager for the St Barnabas Hospice, said: "We are extremely grateful for any donation that is made, however large or small."
