Fifty year wait is over

Two brothers torn apart by tragedy have been reunited - thanks to the Nottingham Evening Post.

Kelvan Denton and Michael Black were separated in 1951, the day their mother was murdered at the family's Bulwell home.

Charlotte Black was strangled by boyfriend Jan Kedzierski who then killed himself. Three year old Kelvan found the bodies.

The boys, who were half brothers, were sent to separate foster homes and never saw each other again.

Michael emigrated to Australia in 1971.

In July this year Michael put an appeal in the Post as part of the newspaper's Together 2000 campaign.

Three readers wrote to Australia with information about Kelvan's whereabouts.

And a few phone calls later, Michael was back in touch with his brother - for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Michael's brother-in-law David Greenwood helped to reunite the pair.

He said: "Michael was quite emotional after speaking to Kelvan. One thing this makes clear is that the Post campaign works - even when someone is on the other side of the world."
