Ad-Mag now part of NPG:MD promoted to group No2

David Waghorne has been appointed deputy managing director of the Nottingham Post Group, part of a move which sees Northcliffe-owned Ad-Mag join the Group.

It joins a media portfolio led by the award-winning Evening Post. NPG also publishes the Recorder series of free weekly newspapers, which have a combined weekly distribution of 267,000 copies.

Ad-Mag has offices in Nottingham and Sheffield and was acquired by Northcliffe in 1998. It has more than 100 full and part-time staff and the twice-weekly publication enjoys distribution of 267,000 copies.

Post Group managing director Alex Leys said: "Together these businesses provide exceptional opportunities for readers and advertisers to reach an expanding market in one of the most vibrant regions of the UK.

"David Waghorne brings a wealth of commercial experience to the combined business, having overseen the rapid expansion of Ad-Mag during the past four years."

David was head of classified for Thomson Regional Newspapers and then general classified director at the Birmingham Post and Mail before joining T Bailey Forman in Nottingham as circulation director of the Evening Post. He became classified advertisement director of the Nottingham Post group when it was acquired by Northcliffe in 1995.

He replaces Tim Saunders, who is currently assistant MD at Westcountry Publications, which publishes the Exeter Express & Echo, Plymouth Evening Herald, Torquay Herald Express and the Western Morning News.
