Education journalist awards scheme now open for entries

The fourth Chartered Institute for Public Relations (CIPR) Education Journalist of the Year Awards is now open for entries.

The scheme is organised by the CIPR's education and skills group, a professional network of over 250 members, representing communications and PR professionals across the education and skills sector.

There are three different awards each of which offers a £500 prize for winners and £150 for runners-up.

The award categories are:

The Award for Outstanding Education Reporting: regional/local journalists

The Award for Outstanding Education Reporting: national journalists

The Ted Wragg Award for Sustained Contribution to Education Journalism

Previous winners of the regional prize include Katie McInnes, from The Sentinel in Stoke-on-Trent, and Arthur McMillan from Scotland on Sunday.

CIPR president Elisabeth Lewis-Jones said: "As well as giving the sector's journalists a chance to showcase their work, for us as PR professionals these awards provide an opportunity to formally celebrate the outstanding quality of education journalism in the UK."

The closing date for applicants is June 6. The awards ceremony will be hosted at the House of Commons by former journalist Bob Russell MP and will take place on October 9.
