MEN crowned best daily newspaper at north-west awards

The best of the north-west media industry gathered in Manchester for the first How-Do Awards.

Among the editorial winners was the Manchester Evening News which was crowned daily newspaper of the year, beating the Lancashire Evening Post and Liverpool Daily Post to the top prize.

The LEP didn't go home empty-handed though as it won website of the year while the Stockport Express was crowned weekly newspaper of the year.

Media website How-Do offered a total of 14 prizes celebrating the wider media industry in the north-west of England.

Among the other winners were Xfm Manchester which was crowned best radio station, the Salford Star won best magazine and Dragon's Den took home best TV programme.

The judging panel included former Krypton Factor presenter Gordon Burns, former Trinity Mirror chief executive Philip Graf and political commentator Jim Hancock.

The awards ceremony welcomed 550 guests to Manchester United FC stadium Old Trafford.
