Call for entries in awards scheme celebrating mental health journalism

Mental health charity Mind is calling for entries to its 2008 journalism awards.

There are two prizes up for grabs – journalist of the year and student journalist of the year.

The award scheme aims to promote excellence in presenting positive images of mental health, challenging stigma and discrimination and contributing to public understanding.

They will be presented by the charity's president Melvyn Bragg at the Mind Awards, in May.

Entries to the journalist award must have been published in the national, local or consumer press in England or Wales between April 14, 2007, and April 11 this year.

The student award is open to student journalists at any university in England or Wales.

Entries must have been published in a student-run publication between the above dates.

The deadline for entries is April 11. For more information and judging criteria visit Mind's website.
