Farming writer recognised for impact on rural community

The rural affairs editor of the Daily Post, Andrew Forgave, has been named the 2006 Welsh Agricultural Journalist of the Year.

He was presented with an inscribed shepherd’s crook to mark the achievement.

The award is sponsored by the Farmers Union of Wales, and president Gareth Vaughan applauded Andrew’s contribution to local agricultural journalism.

He said: “Andrew is well-known throughout the agricultural community, especially in north and mid-Wales, for his thorough reporting style.

“His contribution to the promotion of Welsh farming issues is well known.”

Andrew also received praise for his work to produce an illustrated supplement for the Post to mark the FUW’s 50th anniversary last year.
