County journalism awards launched

Entries are being invited for the 2005 Kent Journalist of the Year Awards.

Independent brewer Shepherd Neame has once again pledged its support for the competition, and is looking for the best journalistic talent from the county.

Last year's winners included Kentish Express reporter Mike Bennett, Amy Woodland from the Folkestone Herald and Jez Durrant from the Kent & Sussex Courier, and entry forms for this year's contest are now available.

Award hopefuls have until Monday, November 14, to get their entries in, and winners will be announced during a presentation lunch on Friday, January 27.

Judges will be former BBC Radio Kent presenter Barbara Sturgeon; TV personality Bob Holness; Jonathan Holborow, former editor of the Mail on Sunday and sports writer for The Sun and News of the World Justin Allen, who was the Shepherd Neame Young Journalist of the Year in 1997.
