Chance to grab £1,000 as business awards return

Business journalists are being offered the chance to win £1,000, with the return of the Northern Business Journalist Awards.

The event is back with a new sponsor, npower, after a three year absence, and is open to both print and broadcast business journalists based between the Trent and the Scottish borders.

But anyone wishing to enter needs to get their entry together quickly - as the competition deadline is on Friday, October 7.

This year there are seven categories: Newspaper of the Year, Magazine of the Year, Daily Newspaper Journalist of the Year, Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year, Magazine Journalist of the Year and Broadcast Journalist of the Year, as well as the new category of Business Story of the Year.

Journalists can enter any or all of the categories and three pieces of work are required for each, all of which must have been published or broadcast in the last 12 months to the end of June.

Winners of the five individual categories will each receive £1,000.

To enter contact Craig Spence on 0113 242 1155 or e-mail craig@ptarmiganpr.co.uk. Winners will be announced on November 17.

Judges will be looking for a clear use of language, accessibility to their audience and understanding of the topic covered. For Business Story of the Year they will be looking for a major scoop that has either run and run or progressed into a bigger national story.
