News staff gather to celebrate year's successes

The high achievers at Northcliffe Newspapers have been recognised at the group's annual Circulation, Editorial and Promotion Awards.

Newspaper staff gathered to see the winners announced at a ceremony at the Marriot City Centre Hotel in Bristol, marking the culmination of the circulation and editorial year as the best initiatives, sale-generating ideas and editorial campaigns were rewarded.

Among the winners was the Leicester Mercury, which took the Scoop of the Year title for its coverage of The La Manga Scandal, which saw several Leicester football players face allegations of sexual assault; and the Derby Evening Telegraph, which won the daily Front Page of the Year category for its tribute to football legend Brian Clough.
