EDP's Sarah named outstanding trainee

Eastern Daily Press reporter Sarah Brealey has been awarded the Archant Norfolk Holroyd Award for the most outstanding trainee of the year.

The award is made annually in memory of former Mercury series editor Albert Holroyd, who edited the title from 1950 to 1960, by his daughter Elaine who was a reporter on the Yarmouth Mercury.

Sarah joined the Archant Norfolk training scheme in March 2003, and following a basic training course at The Editorial Centre in East Sussex she has worked as a junior reporter at Dereham and Thetford.

She was presented with her award and £200 by Norfolk Weeklies editor Terry Redhead and EDP news editor Paul Durrant.

Paul said: "Sarah has a quiet confidence about her that has made her an excellent EDP junior reporter and a worthy winner of the Holroyd Award.

"She's growing in ability all the time and I've no doubt she has an outstanding future ahead of her."
