Farming award for Dundee journalist

Dundee Courier farming editor Andrew Arbuckle has scooped an award for the best horticultural news story of the year.

Andrew was honoured for his work by the National Farmers' Union of England and Wales at the Royal Agricultural Society's Royal Show.

He was presented with a rose bowl and a cheque for his report on raspberry production at the Scottish Crop Research Institute at Invergowrie.

Andrew, (60), used to be a farmer and contributed articles to trade publications before he joined the Dundee Courier as farming editor 15 years ago.

He said: "It's the first time I've won the award and to be recognised by your peers is a great honour. I'm very pleased with it.

"When I was a farmer I would grow soft fruit so it's something I've always been interested in."
