Search is on for newspapers that make a difference

Newspapers that have had a positive impact on their local community are being invited to enter the Big Difference Awards 2004.

The competition is open to a wide range of businesses, organisations and individuals - including those working in the media - and aims to recognise those who have made a difference to their communities.

Organised by The Big Life Company, the competition is free to enter and is open to those in the North West, Yorkshire and Humberside.

Nominees must show they have recognised a problem in the community where they live or work and have done something to alleviate or solve it.

All winners will receive £250.

This year there will be three awards ceremonies, which will be held at The Crowne Plaza in Liverpool on Thursday, March 25; at The City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday, March 31; and at The Queens Hotel in Leeds on April 1.

The deadline for entries is January 23.

Entry forms can be downloaded at: www.bigissueinthenorth.com.
