Financial writing honours for regional journalists

Two regional press journalists have been honoured in a national competition which recognises the best financial journalism.

Peter Sharples, from the Manchester Evening News, was named Personal Finance Regional Journalist of the Year at the 2003 Bradford & Bingley Personal Finance Media Awards.

Judges praised Peter for his ability to consistently tackle interesting stories and engage his readership.

Highly commended in the same category was Adrienne McGill from the Belfast Newsletter, who was praised for her easy to read style and clarity of delivery.

Peter's award was one of 12 handed out at a ceremony in London.

Now in their 17th year, the awards were presented by Bradford & Bingley group chief executive Christopher Rodrigues, and Sophie Raworth of BBC News.
