Quality is assured in the north-east

All of Trinity Mirror's north-east operations covering Newcastle and Teesside now have official quality standards with the award of the ISO 9001 2000 Accreditation for Quality to the Gazette Media Company.

The ISO Quality Accreditation in Teesside is seen as an important step forward as staff plan for the new press facility which will be operational next year.

The ISO 9001 2000 Accreditation covers pre press, production and transport and recognises the organisation's general quality procedures around its good customer service and continuous improvement.

The Newcastle centre was also recently awarded membership of the International Newspaper Color Club which recognises the top 50 newspapers in the world for colour quality.

Ian Swain, assistant managing director responsible for production operations in the north-east said: "Quality has always been high on our agenda in the north-east and this latest quality award can only enhance our reputation for producing quality publications.

"It is a great credit to our staff."
