Nominations for this year's Newspaper Society Weekly Newspaper Awards have been announced.
The annual competition, which this year is being held at the Moat House Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, will see 34 awards handed out - including more than 20 editorial awards designed to recognise the most outstanding journalism within the regional weekly newspaper industry.
Among those vying for one or more of the awards is the Sutton Coldfield Observer, which won the Free Weekly Newspaper of the Year prize last year; the South Manchester Reporter, which was named Best Free Weekly Newspaper in the North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Aberdeen Independent which took the award for the Best Free Weekly Newspaper in Scotland.
Other previous winners which are on the shortlist again this year include the Belfast News and the Taunton Times.

All the winners will be announced during a gala dinner at the Moat House Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon on Wednesday, November 5.
