Entries are now being invited for the Newspaper Society's 2003 New Media Awards.

Designed to highlight the best new media products and services produced by local and regional newspaper publishers in the UK, eight awards will be handed out this year.

These will include awards for the Best Web Design, Best Online Community Service, Best Promotion of an Online Service and Best New Media Development.

There will also be prizes for the best commercial and community niche Internet sites and the best daily and weekly newspaper Internet sites.

Amongst the qualities judges will be looking for will be ease of navigation, 'stickiness' through interactivity, creativity and strong, compelling content, and evidence of a firm commitment to running the service and offering value toadvertisers and readers.

This year the awards will be presented during a gala dinner at the Novotel Hotel in Hammersmith, West London, on September 22, which will follow the Newspaper Society's Advertising, Recruitment and New Media Conferences.

The closing date for entries is Friday, July 4.
