The nominations for the best student photographer have been announced ahead of next month's Picture Editors' Awards.

Among those in the running for the Corporation of London Student Award are James Lipman and Veronique De Vigueries who both studied at Sheffield College.

Together with fellow nominees Hiroko Enseki from the University of Westminster, and Chris Vaughan from the University of Lincoln School of Applied Art and Design, they will meet with judges on May 12 at the Guildhall in London.

Each of the nominees had to submit portfolios of up to ten images, and the winner will be anounced along with all the other category winners during a ceremony on May 12.

Meanwhile, entries are still being invited for the Getty Images Newspaper of the Year, Regional Newspaper of the Year and Newspaper Magazine of the Year categories.

Entries will be judged on their use of pictures, and can only be submitted by editors or picture editors before May 1.
