Production awards nominees sought

Newspaper awards dedicated to rewarding news and media production will take place again next spring - with the introduction of new sponsors and categories to spice up the contest.

The 2003 Newspaper Awards will be held on Wednesday April 2 in London.

They are unusual in that they pit national newspapers against the regional press, with categories including Newspaper Printer of the Year, Outstanding Use of Colour and Special Interest Newspaper of the Year, as well as more traditional Regional Newspaper of the Year and Sunday Newspaper of the Year.

Contestants will battle it out in 15 categories.

New for 2003 is the Most Innovative Technology of the Year, sponsored by Adfast.

Entrants must demonstrate the most innovative implementation of a technology, introduced since January 1 2002, and illustrate how it has added value and quality to production.

The category is open to any type of technology from editorial/advertising pre-press systems and digital workflows, to new presses and mailroom technologies - and anything in between.

Entrants are able to download the entry form from the website, at www.newspaperawards.newstech.co.uk.

New sponsors for 2003 include iPIX, which will sponsor the Design category, and Publishing Needs, which will be sponsoring the Best Use of Colour category.
