Award entries sought

Entries are now being sought for the 2002 Yorkshire Bank Northern Business Journalist of the Year Awards.

The competition is open to all journalists and media who are based in the north of England, from the Trent to the Scottish border, who cover business.

This year there are seven categories, each with a prize of £1,000. These are Newspaper of the Year; Magazine of the Year; New Media Outlet of the Year; Daily Newspaper Journalist of the Year; Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year; Magazine Journalist of the Year and Broadcast Journalist of the Year.

Geoff Greer, chief operating officer at Yorkshire Bank, said: "The Northern Business Journalist of the Year Awards are now highly-prized accolades among media people in the north of England, and competition to win them becomes more intense every year.

"We recognise and reward the excellent standards of business journalism which exist in the region and hope the awards will encourage editors to devote even more time and space to business issues."

All work submitted must have been published or broadcast between the beginning of June 2001 and June 2002.

Entries must be received by Friday, September 27 and the winners will be announced at a presentation dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Leeds on Wednesday, November 20.

If you would like an entry form, you can write to: Alexander Wright, Media Relations Consultant, Yorkshire Bank PLC, Head Office, 20 Merrion Way, Leeds, LS2 8NZ.
