'Outstanding' trainee rewarded

The chief reporter at Lowestoft for the Eastern Daily Press has won an award recognising his journalism success.

Shaun Lowthorpe was presented with the Albert Holroyd award for outstanding young Archant Norfolk trainee of 2001.

Shaun is now in charge of a key EDP office after his skills were quickly recognised since he joined the company in April 2000.

Barry Dennis, Archant Norfolk managing director, presented the award to Shaun on August 9.

Eight other reporters also received their Level 4 Journalism NVQ certificates.

They were Lorna Marsh and Cat Bartman, who are also EDP chief reporters; Keiron Pim, who became a business writer while still a trainee; Rowan Entwistle, now a senior reporter in the EDP head office; Isabel Cockayne, acting chief reporter at Thetford; Jasper Copping who is now crime reporter for the Evening News and more recent trainees Jonathon Redhead and Adrienne Schuter.
