Regional writers compete for travel award

Two regional newspaper journalists have been shortlisted for a top travel writing award.

The Oldham Chronicle's Ken Bennett, and Alan Salter from the Manchester Evening News, will both be hoping to scoop the Tourism Journalist of the Year Award as part of the North West Tourism Awards.

They will be competing against Tim Pemberton of BBC 2002 Radio and Andy Gill from BBC North-West Tonight.

The awards, sponsored by Sea Containers Irish Sea Operations, will be held on Thursday, September 26, at the Radisson Hotel, Manchester Airport.
