A former regional press reporter has won an award for his magazine in Hong Kong.

Steve Shellum, who worked as a reporter and sub editor on the Exeter Express & Echo, received the award from the Society of Publishers in Asia.

He was praised for "his commitment to editorial excellence" on the magazine Hotel Asia Pacific.

Steve began his journalism career on the Express & Echo more than 12 years ago.

He left the paper to take a job at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and later started his own magazine.
