Evening Times inspires architects

Two architects have scooped a top award with a project inspired by the Glasgow Evening Times.

Strathclyde University graduates Moritz Theirfelder and Thomas Bernatsky used news stories from the paper as the starting point to find new uses for city landmarks and produce their Reality Times CD ROM.

The pair followed up stories by interviewing people involved and combined what they said into fictional newspaper reports about new developments.

The project has won them Glasgow's Silver Medal award as the best graduates from their year.

Moritz said: "The Evening Times was perfect for us because it says a lot about people in communities across the city and shows the issues that affect them."

Thomas added: "The stories are fictional but any proposal for a building is fiction to begin with, it only exists in someone's imagination until it is built."
