Drink, write and be merry

In a bid to encourage young journalists and writers to wax lyrical on the subject of wine, The Circle of Wine Writers is offering a £1,000 award.

The award aims to enable a young UK-based wine writer to travel to a wine region and then develop a book or article based on the experience.

The award is open to any writer under 30 who has not yet had a book published and is not yet an established columnist.

The winner will be able to demonstrate ability and commitment to popular consumer wine writing.

The award is being sponsored by Websters International Publishers, to whom entries should be sent before January 31 2001.

Writers should submit 500 words maximum for an article and 1,000 for a book synopsis, plus previous examples of work and a full CV.

Post entries to: Anne Lawrence, Websters International Publishers, Second Floor, Axe and Bottle Court, 70 Newcomen Street, London SE1 1YT.

  • Any queries can be made to Jo Turner at Websters by telephoning 020 7940 4714 or by e-mail to joturn@websters.co.uk
