Chris Bucktin has been crowned Yorkshire Journalist of the Year at the Yorkshire Press Awards 2000.
Chris, now writing for the News of the World, was one of more than 20 journalists honoured for their work at a ceremony in the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield.
Other winners included Dan Howard, of the Morley Observer, who scooped the Weekly News Reporter of the Year title; Dennis Lound, from the Sheffield Star, who was Photographer of the Year; and Gavin Mairs, from the Yorkshire Post, who was named Sports Writer of the Year.
Event organiser David Edmondson, of Sheffield Newspapers Ltd, praised the standard of the entries.
He said: "There is a tremendous amount of journalistic talent in Yorkshire and these awards, which have a long history, recognise that.
"Regional journalism is held in high regard and the quality of entries we received this year shows that Yorkshire is in the forefront for quality and excellence."
Each of 12 category winners received a trophy and £150, with runners-up receiving a certificate and £50.
