Editor aims to reward remarkable dedication

Colin Grant, editor of the Cambridge Evening News, has launched the newspaper's Community Challenge Awards 2001.

He explained: "When we began these special awards four years ago, the aim was to honour and reward remarkable work being carried out by hundreds of people throughout our circulation area in helping their own communities."

He added: "There have been some incredible stories of dedication and determination during those four years and the beauty of the Community Challenge Awards is that we are able to acclaim such efforts, both in words and with financial reward."

In the months ahead, potential winners - nominated by readers - will be highlighted in the Evening News and its sister paper the Weekly News.
