The Special award for innovation in digital publishing, in the Newspaper Society 2000 New Media Awards, was won by The Cambridge Evening News for its innovative student accommodation guide.

The guide, available as a 28-page booklet and through the News website, was praised for combining published and online technologies.
Mike Carr, marketing director of Cambridge Newspapers, said he was delighted with the accolade.
"It underlines the strength of our web presence as can also be seen by the fact that we receive approximately one million page impressions per months and more than 105,000 visits to our website," he added.
