Hugh Kirby of Meridian in Southampton scooped the BT Southern Home Counties Television News Broadcaster of the Year Award. Judges were impressed by his mini-series of reports from Kosovo described as "reporting from the top drawer". Peter Henley from Meridian Broadcasting and Helen James, also from Meridian Broadcasting, were both highly commended.
