Highly Commended: Earthquake, Meridian Broadcasting and Life After Ledward, Meridian Broadcasting

The winning entry for the BT Southern Home Counties News or Current Affairs Programme of the Year offered "a terrific insight into the tensions between asylum seekers and residents in Dover last summer". Judges felt it was excellent use of the medium and a worthy contribution to a debate that needed to be aired. The award went to BBC Radio Kent for Port in a Storm. Two highly commended awards went to Meridian Focus for Earthquake and Meridian Broadcasting for Life After Ledward.
