Backing arts festival is a winner

The South Wales Evening Post has received a prestigious award in recognition of its support for Swansea's annual Dylan Thomas Festival.

The newspaper won the best sponsorship-in-kind category at the annual Arts and Business Cymru Awards. Now in their seventh year, the awards celebrate sponsorship of the arts by business.

Since the Dylan Thomas Festival was launched in 1998, the Evening Post has backed it with special supplements and other strong coverage in the paper.

The judging panel included Welsh Assembly deputy presiding officer Jane Davidson, HTV head of drama development Peter Edwards and former CBI Wales director Elizabeth Haywood.

The awards were sponsored by LloydsTSB and the Post Office, in association with the Western Mail. They were held at St David's Hall, Cardiff.
