Tom Richmond (pictured above) of the Express & Echo, Exeter, was the outright winner after being a runner-up last year. Runners-up were Stephen Grant of the Evening Herald, Plymouth, and Tom Henry of the Western Daily Press.

Judges commented on Tom Richmond's work saying "Our winner is a campaigning journalist whose energy and enthusiasm comes over in every cause he champions and issue he takes up.

"He typically left no angle uncovered in a series of articles about an Exeter mother's fight for justice over her son's death and was equally diligent in exposing the dealings of a controversial publishing company".
