Looking at that intro, it should be ” a village that”… (not which)
and tracing its history “back to” the Domesday Book is redundant. Tracing its history to the Domesday Book is crisper and means the same thing.
You can’t trace history forward unless the paper has a time machine.
Rather typical of the obsession of local papers with style over substance.
The decline of good, tight and grammatical writing on local papers is shameful. Honestly there are still papers out talking about building new houses (instead of old?) or even worse building BRAND NEW homes (two useless words) the council/club/ health authority, hospital, ARE.
Papers do not have to be badly written.
