Journalist set to trek across Peru in aid of hospice

Debbie ButlerA weekly journalist is set to trek across Peru in aid of a hospice on her patch.

Debbie Butler, left, senior content editor at the Lancaster Guardian and Morecambe Visitor, is joining a group of fundraisers aiming to raise a total of £100,000.

The cash will go to St John’s Hospice, in Lancaster, with each member of the group being given a personal target of £1,800.

The trek is set to take place in March 2018.

Said Debbie: “I am funding the total cost of the trip myself so any money I raise will go entirely to the hospice.

“The hospice is such an inspiring place and I’m no exception in that cancer has touched my life on more than one occasion.

“So personal discomforts aside, I’m humbled to be able to take part in this experience to raise as much money as possible for this vital charity.2

Debbie has already begun her fundraising campaign by asking local schools to take part in a non-uniform day, with those participating being given coverage in both newspapers.
