Two new editors appointed to head up city dailies

AlanmccabeA regional publisher has appointed two new editors to oversee its evening newspaper portfolio.

DC Thomson has announced the appointment of Andrew Kellock and Craig Walker as editors of the Dundee Evening Telegraph and Aberdeen Evening Express respectively.

Craig takes over the Evening Express from Alan McCabe, who has been promoted to editor-in-chief for the company’s evening titles, while Andrew has replaced Steven Bell, who left the Evening Telegraph last month to become Dundee City Council’s head of communications.

Andrew and Craig’s appointments come two weeks after DC Thomson announced the departure of Damian Bates, who had served as editor of its Aberdeen-based morning paper the Press & Journal for four years.

Richard Neville, who was editor of Dundee daily The Courier, has now taken on the role of editor-in-chief for the company’s morning newspapers.

Courier assistant editor Catriona MacInnes has taken over as its acting editor, but no replacement for Damian has been unveiled at the P&J pending a review of its newsroom structure.

Craig has been deputy editor at the Evening Express for the past six years, and served as news editor and assistant editor prior to that.

Andrew was previously the Evening Telegraph’s deputy editor, and worked on the P&J prior to that.
