A Cambridge college is to provide the setting for the year’s biggest media gathering with the fight against ‘fake news’ topping the agenda.

This year’s Society of Editors conference will take place on 12-13 November at Clare College, Cambridge, pictured.

Trusted journalism will be a key theme of the event, with the agenda focusing on fighting fake news and the value of legitimate news sources.

Other topics for discussion will include police and media relationships and counter-terrorism and funding journalism online.

The event will include the annual Society of Editors Lecture which will take place on the evening of Sunday 12 at the newly-built Tamburlaine Hotel, a stone’s throw away from Cambridge train station.

The main day of conference sessions will take place at Clare College the following day.

The event is sponsored by United Utilities, Google, Foot Anstey, PCS and Camelot, which has supported the Society of Editors since 2001.

Full details of how to book will be released in due course. Anyone wishing to register their interest or enquire about sponsorship opportunities should email [email protected].
