The final shortlist has been unveiled for the 38th annual Scottish Press Awards to be held in May.
Organised by the Scottish Newspaper Society, the awards will be handed out at a Ceremony and Dinner on May 11 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow
A judging panel of 25 leading media figures and former editors whittled down the final selections from a record number of entries.
New categories have been introduced for ‘digital team of the year’ and ‘outstanding digital journalist’ to recognise the continued expansion and development of digital news publishing on all platforms.
SNS director John McLellan said: “The judges had an incredibly difficult task to produce the list of finalists because of the quality of the submissions and the very best of Scottish media talent is represented in every category.
“It’s particularly good to see some new names on the shortlists for the digital categories added this year.
“Newspapers are at the very heart of the political and social debate in Scotland and the year ahead promises to be another in which our newspapers will play a vital role in scrutinising, questioning and interpreting the actions of politicians of all parties.”
