Regional daily digital editor takes up new national newspaper role

Michelle HurstA regional daily’s digital editor is moving on after landing a new senior production role with a national newspaper.

Michelle Hurst, left, is leaving the Grimsby Telegraph and its sister weekly the Scunthorpe Telegraph to become production editor for the Daily Telegraph as part of a new team based at the Press Association in Howden.

Michelle is a former deputy editor of the Grimsby Telegraph and has spent a total of 28 years with the paper.

She will be replaced in Grimsby by Jamie Macaskill, executive editor at the Telegraph’s Trinity Mirror sister title the Hull Daily Mail, who begins the role on Monday.

Said Michelle: “I feel privileged and proud to have spent almost three decades of my career at the Grimsby Telegraph – the only daily newspaper in Lincolnshire that quite rightly holds its head up high – and, although it will be difficult to leave, I will take with me absolutely fantastic memories and friendships.”

Jamie added: “The Grimsby Telegraph, Scunthorpe Telegraph and their websites are an integral part of their communities and I’m looking forward to helping a hard working team achieve even more success online and in print. Hopefully, my experience will help me with this new and exciting challenge.”

Other recent job moves in the regional press include the following:
