Readers urged to bake for heroes in daily-backed campaign

A regional daily has urged readers to bake cakes in honour of a military charity’s 10th anniversary.

The Oxford Mail is officially baking the Bake for Heroes campaign, which marks a decade since Help for Heroes was founded.

The Mail’s support comes off the back of Oxfordshire being chosen as one of the key regions for the campaign to raise cash to support wounded, injured and sick veterans, soldiers and their families.

It runs from 15 to 30 April, with readers being encouraged to hold bake sales during this time.

Participants will be published in a roll of honour in the newspaper at the end of campaign, showing all the organisations and individuals who took part.

Sara Taylor, managing editor of the Mail, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Bake For Heroes and it has all the ingredients of being a fantastic community effort by the people of Oxford.

“The beauty of it is that it is so easy to take part as almost everyone has a kitchen and people of all ages love baking.”
